Frequently Asked Questions
Rattan furniture is made from rattan vines which are woven together to create outdoor furniture that is waterproof.
If taken care of properly, rattan furniture can last up to 10 years. On top of being waterproof, resin weave rattan furniture is also resistant to UV rays so you shouldn’t expect to see much fading or wear and tear in warmer weather.
The good news is, rattan is one of the safest from an environmental standpoint.
There are 2 main types: PE (Polyethylene) rattan and PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) rattan.
PE rattan withstands the outdoor elements and can handle humid or damp conditions, unlike natural rattan, which breaks down or becomes mildewed in wet environments. PE rattan is recyclable and lasts longer than PVC rattan. It is designed to look like natural rattan, with some color variations.
At Outdoor Yard Kenya, we only use HDPE (High-density Polyethylene), which is the best and highest quality rattan, giving you a 10-year lasting period.
If you choose rattan furniture for your garden, you won’t be disappointed as it offers numerous great qualities for long-lasting and durable furniture. High-quality rattan garden furniture can last between 5-10 years, and sometimes longer with proper care.
-
Low Maintenance
One of the huge benefits of rattan furniture is that it doesn’t require much maintenance. You can simply wipe it down with warm soapy water. To make it virtually maintenance-free, consider purchasing a cover to protect it from dirt. -
Weatherproof
Rattan furniture can be left outside all year round without suffering weather damage. It is made with well-coated frames to prevent rust and corrosion, and top-quality rattan made from PE materials is 100% weatherproof. -
The Choice of Colours
Rattan furniture comes in a variety of colors, including brown, grey, black, natural, whitewash, seagrass, and willow, with brown and grey being the most popular. -
Lightweight and Cost-Effective
Rattan furniture is incredibly lightweight, which makes it easy to move, relocate, and rearrange. Despite its lightness, it is stable and won’t blow over in windy conditions. It is also more cost-effective than other materials like wood and metal. -
Customizable
The beauty of rattan furniture is that you can choose your desired style to fit your space and change the rattan color over time to enjoy current trends.
